The story of baby Jules, a flea and larvae covered kitten who found a furever home
What an incredible rescue!
"She was probably less than twelve hours old when we found her.
We found her under some hedges, her rear paw tangled in the netting that landscapers sometimes put down. It was swollen, and the skin was a shade of purple or blue. She was covered in flies and larva. She was wailing for her mom, who was no where to be found. We cut her loose, bathed her, and decided to keep her," they wrote on imgur.
"At first, we used a little syringe which we fashioned with a nipple to feed her. She needed to be fed every two hours, including throughout the night. Eventually we fed her from a bottle.
LPT: If you ever need to feed a kitten in this way, don't push the plunger. Let them suck it out. Pushing the plunger (too much) will cause the kitten to aspirate the formula, leading to a lung infection and death. Had a little scare with this one night. But keep reading, everything turns out ok!!"
"What we didn't know is that formula doesn't contain any fiber, so little baby Jules got constipated. She didn't poop for days. Luckily, the internet came to her rescue, and we learned about The Triangle Method (google it, or look on youtube). The constipation could have killed her. The joy we would feel when a turd finally fell out was amazing.
LPT: Put a TINY PINCH of Metamucil into the formula to avoid this unfortunate discomfort."
"When she started walking, at first her little tiny legs couldn't fully support the weight of her body. She was adorable, crawling around."
Her first real steps.
"She's an incredibly feisty cat by nature. She will literally tear your arm up, all in good fun. We think?"
"She thinks that everything has nipples sometimes, including our couch."
Before her eyes changed colors.
"Memento is a very demure cat. Her and Jules tolerate one another, and maybe there's a little bit of a buddy relationship there, but these are not two cats who enjoy cuddling with one another."
She loves to play!
And make funny faces.
How cute iz she??
Adorable.
Her eyes are now a deep yellowish shade of green (or something). She's a big girl now.
"I'm glad we saved her."
So iz we! Congrats Jules on your new family! Hazah!
