Tommy the cat called 911 to save hiz owner's life!
Tommy lived in Columbus, Ohio with wheelchair-bound Gary Rosheisen. Gary had unfortunately suffered from a series of mini-strokes; he also had osteoporosis meaning that hiz bones were very weak.
Tommy had entered Rosheisen’s life three years previously, for he thought having a cat would help lower hiz blood pressure. He also hoped that having a pet at home would make a great companion. (Which of course we do!)
In fact because of hiz frequent seizures, Rosheisen had even attempted to train hiz new bud to press a 911 speed dial button in case of emergencies.
“The phone in the living room is always on the floor, and there are 12 small buttons — including a speed dial for 911 right above the button for the speaker phone.” Rosheisen told USA Today.
Even though he felt he trained Tommy well enough, the human had no real idea if the training had stuck, and what would happen if a serious situation actually happened.
Until one day he had a seizure in hiz bedroom and fell from hiz wheelchair onto the floor. Rosheisen said he couldn’t get up because of the pain from hiz osteoporosis and hiz balance waz also impaired due to the strokes.
Unable to move, he had no way of calling for help... but luckily, Tommy waz there!
Officer Patrick Daugherty waz on duty at the time. He told USA Today, “police received a 911 call from Rosheisen’s apartment, but there was no one on the phone.”
The call waz disconnected and the dispatcher called the phone number. When there waz no answer the police were dispatched to Rosheisen’s home.
That iz where they found Tommy, lying next to the phone, and hiz human Rosheisen on the floor in pain next to hiz fallen wheel chair.
“I know it sounds kind of weird,” Officer Daugherty said, unable to provide any other plausible explanation as to how the call was made. No one else waz there besides Tommy.
The training must haz worked, and Tommy made the call to save hiz human's life.
"He's my hero" Rosheisen said.
That he iz. That he iz.
Hazah!
