Little kitten was saved from drowning thanks to a 4 year old!
Sara Tolley was walking her 4-year-old son, Camden, to pre-school at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church right next to Clayton Town Hall when Camden heard the faint cries of what sounded like a little kitten in the deep storm drain in front of Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library, Clayton’s municipal library.
As soon as they got to school, they asked their teacher to call the Clayton Police Department. Clayton Animal Control Officer Angela Lee responded immediately and knew she needed the help of the Town of Clayton Fire Department.
With the forecast of rain, the Town of Clayton crews knew that drain would have soon been flooded with water. They worked together and successfully rescued the scared kitten.
“Despite the cold and damp – and front paws worn raw from trying to escape the pipe – the cat is in good condition,” according to animal control officer Angela Lee.
The little girl has been taken in by Alley Cats and Angels and will be put up for adoption soon. She's named after her Camden for his sharp ears that ultimately saved this kitten's life!
