She was kept in a birdcage her entire life. Now, she's finally happy and free!
Furry Nation Salvation, a rescue organization in Florida, had received word about a cat being kept in unimaginable conditions.
When they arrived, they couldn't believe their eyes.
This poor girl was confined to a small birdcage for her entire first year of her life. A tarp was thrown over it to keep her dry from the rain. She was never allowed out. Her rescuers took her immediately.
The rescued cat, now named Holly Peppermint, needed immediate treatment for her fleas, which had taken over her entire body. She also had skin and bladder infections.
"Once we got her home she received a flea bath and got a dose of flea preventative on," Tonja Heer of Furry Salvation Nation said. "As my 2-year-old held her while she dried, she purred very loudly, like the sound of a dove."
Looking better!
Holly Peppermint had lived in such a small cage her entire life, that she wasn't used to having so much space to move around.
At first she barely moved or walked around at all. But, once she realized that she was safe and loved, she began to heal.
A family fell in love with Holly right away, and they offered her a home that she desperately needed.
She now has a loving family, a 10 year-old kitty sibling, and all the space she needs to run, play and be herself.
See her in action below!
For every bad person out there, there are hundreds of good people ready to help. This story is just another reminder. We're so happy that Holly has the home that she deserves! :)
