One eyed rescue kitten becomes a surfing legend!
Like many Hawaiians, Nānākuli loves to surf.
Nānākuli, however, is a cat.
Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton rescued the cat, nicknamed Kuli, who had to have his eye removed due to an infection.
Part of his treatment and recovery was to have regular baths.
"Although he started off life very weak and malnourished, he has grown very quickly into a very tolerant cat and loves the water," Gomez told the Daily Mail. "Probably thanks to the numerous baths he's had while recovering from his operation."
His human parents started giving him swimming lessons so Kuli could spend time with his family all the time.
"His first time in the water, we just let him float on the board by himself near the shoreline and I would paddle around with him," said Gomez. "Before we knew it we were looking for waves to surf."
He even has his own life vest!
"He still wears it from time to time depending on the conditions, but we are careful not to take him out if it is too windy or the water is too rough."
The locals love Kuli and he's made ton of friends!
Kuli lost an eye, but got a loving family to soak up the Hawaiian sun with for the rest of his life in return.
