Allegedly, this is one of the oldest photographs of a cat ever taken
This photo of a cute kitty was identified to be taken between 1880-1890.
It has since gone viral on the internet.
Is this the oldest photo of a cat ever? Not necessarily. Harry Pointer was known for photographing cats in silly costumes and poses as early as 1870s. Others have mentioned that this might have been the first photo discovered using a certain camera/print.
That being said, it's pretty funny how even back then, people wanted to take photos of their kitties. Check out any cat lover's instagram, and you'll see that the internet is now filled with cat pictures!
Many asked how in the world this kitty would stand so long for a picture during those times. One reddit user had an excellent theory.
"The first cat was unaware of what was happening or even of what a camera was, but after the first picture he spread word to its species to ensure no other cat cooperated again."
We agree with this theory. :)
