Missing cat found one year later thanks to being microchipped!
Microchips work and this story is proof!
Syd the cat went missing and thanks to being microchipped, he was reunited with his human mom.
"Reported my cat missing one year ago and just got a call yesterday from the local shelter to let me know he's been found. MICROCHIPS WORK!!! " Syd's mom shared on reddit.
"Syd is adjusting surprisingly fast. He was pretty wigged out initially but now, if it's just me in the room, he's back to making muffins on my arm, purring, and being a cat."
"They found him as a stray and took him on 2 days ago. So I have no idea what he's been doing for the last year but yea he's definitely been well fed!" she added. "I truly had come to the conclusion that he wasn't coming back. I told myself someone found him and just took him in as their own. No matter what happened to him this past year, I'm happy I get to snuggle and keep him safe again."
"He's running around the house now, eating, exploring, all while holding a very pleased expression. :) I think we both can't get enough attention from each other."
This a reminder to get your cat and pets microchipped. Up to 8 million animals end up in shelters every year. Unfortunately, only 15-20% of dogs and less than 2% of cats are ever reclaimed by their owners. One of the ways to increase the chances of finding your lost pet is having it microchipped.
