This guy decided to give his cat Mexican jumping beans as a cat toy... and it's pretty entertaining!
Kitty approves.
"I had an idea one day to use Mexican Jumping Beans as a Cat Toy," Paul shared on YouTube.
Mexican jumping beans (also known as frijoles saltarines in Spanish) are seed pods that have been inhabited by the larva of a small moth (Cydia deshaisiana) and are native to Mexico. The larva live inside the beans for months, and it needs ideal conditions to actually hatch. Most larvae don't make it to the pupal stage, and if they do, they turn into moths that only last a few days. Strange insects...
"They entertained my cat for a good 5 months."
