Cat refuses to leave baby brother's side after he comes down with a fever (Gallery)
When baby Sonny Boggs was born, he had a big furry family that couldn’t wait to meet him. Sonny has 4 dogs and a kitty who he got to call family right away.
His dog siblings were obsessed with him from the beginning, but the cat, Mia, took a little bit longer to warm up to him. Now? She’s his biggest protector.
"In the last two weeks Mia has developed a very strong love for Sonny," Kasey Boggs, Sonny and Mia's mom, told The Dodo. "She loves watching all his little quirky movements, plays under his teepee with him and there hasn't been a morning where Sonny hasn't woken up to Mia."
Mia loves her little human brother. She is constantly fussing over him and making sure that Sonny is smiling and happy.
So, when Sonny came home one day with a small fever after getting some routine shots, Mia seemed to know immediately that something was wrong.
"She went right for the place where he had gotten his shots on," Boggs said. "When I picked him up out of his carrier, she was meowing at us and was on the bed before I could even lay him down. She laid with him all afternoon."
Mia wouldn’t leave Sonny’s side and when mom came to check in on him, Mia was sure to be looking over her shoulder, making sure Sonny was going to be alright.
"She takes her role as the caregiver of the house very seriously," Boggs said. "Its what she lives for."
