Grandpa secretly raises kitten after grandma said he couldn't keep them
Grandpa has a deep, dark, adorable secret.
Jimmy, 85, lives in Puerto Rico with his wife in a neighborhood that’s known to have a few strays. While Jimmy has a soft spot for cats, his wife… not so much.
She told him she didn’t want any strays anywhere near the house. So, that’s when Jimmy decided to go behind her back…
"My grandpa felt for the stray cats and would leave food in the back of the house near his tool shed, a spot where my grandma doesn't go," his granddaughter, Syl, told The Dodo. "This particular cat was especially friendly and got attached to my grandpa."
When Jimmy found out that his best bud kitty was pregnant, he knew he couldn’t turn her away.
He decided to let the soon to be mama cat into his shed, where she would give birth in a warm and safe environment. Jimmy was ecstatic while his wife was blissfully unaware.
"My grandpa is really kind and has always loved animals," she said. "So it's not really that surprising."
Mama cat certainly appreciated Jimmy’s generosity.
But after three weeks sneaking food, water, and love to mama and her kittens, the jig was finally up.
Grandma finally found out, but she wasn’t angry. One look at those kitten faces and she had a change of heart.
"She's okay with them staying there until they're old enough to have new homes," Syl said.
Jimmy got off the hook, and so did mama and her babies. She may not agree with her husband all the time, but one of the reasons she married him in the first place was because of his kind heart.
