33 abused circus lions finally freed and return home to Africa
Circuses around the world have been exposed at what goes on behind the tent, with countless evidence of abuse and inhumane treatment of their animals. As many circuses, including the world famous Ringling Brothers shutting down for good, it's a huge win for animal rights.
Earlier this month, 33 former circus lions will finally have their freedom in the African sun after a rescue effort by Animal Defenders International.
After spending their entire life in traveling circuses, mistreated and abused by their owners, the lions will live out the rest of their days in peace at Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary in Vaalwater, South Africa.
