Cat recruited by police caught sleeping on the job
A ginger feline was recruited by the NSW Mounted Police in Surry Hills, New South Wales, Australia, to patrol their stables for criminal rodents.
He's usually great on the job... when he's awake.
Meet Ed the cat!
Ed was adopted by the officers of the Mounted Police. The stables have been known to have rodents conducting suspicious activity, so Ed was hired on to take care of the problem.
Needless to stay rodent crime has been cut down dramatically since Ed has stepped in.
For the particularly bad rodents, he personally delivers them to his superiors.
Ed has earned full reign of the place and is quite good at his job except when he sleeps on duty.
"He's quite active in the mornings and he has favourite stables he likes to visit," Kylie Ann Riddell, unit's Acting Commander, told dailytelegraph.
"There is one spot where he sits and waits for the rats to come running inside — he has delivered a dead rat to the office as well."
Ed is not relieved of his desk work however.
He likes to get most of work done in the morning and spends through the rest of the day. The boss kitty has his own heater in his office.
And sometimes he naps while on the job... but he gets a pass for his excellent record of catching rodents.
Ed working hard or hardly working?
When Ed is napping, these criminal rodents know that's their best chance to conduct illegal activity.
Don't worry... Ed will catch them when he wakes!
